And the Spirit of the LORD will come powerfully upon you, and you shall prophesy with them, and shall be changed into a different man. [1 Samuel 10:6 AFV]

It is not surprising to find a good number of young people who feel they are a mess. Do you also believe you are too much of a “mess” to be found worthy by anyone? Or think there is no saving grace for you? Let us consider the 12 disciples of Jesus, you will be likely to question why Judas was chosen, but we can question why all the others were chosen too. Nonetheless, we are treading on the hard work of these men we would have classified as unqualified.

Do you think it was their doing? The Bible in Acts 1:8 says; “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere — in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” and that’s exactly what happened.

The past of these disciples could not define them when they were transformed. Consider the past of Paul, and consider how it could still not stop him from pressing on toward the mark, leading an exemplary life for all saints. The transformative work of the Spirit of God is true; you are no exception to this rule if you are willing. The mirror reflection you call “a mess”, “insufficient” and “incapable” can be a powerful vessel in the Potter’s hand because He can transform you.

It matters not who you are because when the Spirit of the Lord comes upon you, the “old you” gives way. Acts 2:17 ‘In the last days,’ God says, ‘I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams.’ Again, you are no exception to this rule.

Wherever you stand today in your faith, or whatever gift you possess, regardless of the masses that you may or may not be leading, just remember that the power that transformed you is alive and potent to transform others. And this power resides in the person of the Holy Spirit.

Father, thank You for Your Spirit, who makes me sufficient. Thank You that I am who I am because of who You are in me. I declare that I am transformed today in Jesus’ name. Amen.
