“For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.” [1 Timothy‬ ‭4:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬‬‬]‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Godliness means conforming to the laws and wishes of God. Godliness is seen in a life of reverence for God. It takes a life of godliness to walk in God’s purpose for our lives. A life well-lived is one that is lived pursuing God’s purpose. It leads to a life of abundance and gives you a reward that only God can give you. You cannot live an ungodly life and expect to fulfil God’s purpose for your life. Godliness is profitable. Indeed it brings you increase.

The Bible tells us about Daniel and his friends who were brought into the king’s palace to serve, they purposed in their hearts not to eat the king’s food or drink the wine they were served with [Daniel 1:8]. To them, eating that food was going to defile them. Daniel made a decision not to compromise no matter the situation he found himself in. Daniel drew the line and knew what he would do and what he would not do. This decision led them to become better than the others who were chosen to serve with them.

This was a foundation to Daniel fulfilling God’s purpose for His life and his impact remains, many years after his death. If we will live and make an impact that will outlive us, then we must live godly lives with God’s purpose in mind. Let us not compromise like others do in order to get to the top. Promotion comes from the Lord and not from men.

You do not need to cheat in exams, tell lies to receive an opening, cut corners in your business, give and /or be on the receiving end of a bribe. Decide this day to live like Jesus lived in every situation you find yourself in. We must ask ourselves WWJDWhat Would Jesus Do? We must make up our minds to walk according to the Word of God in every situation. God’s Word must have absolute authority in our lives. The Word of God must determine our convictions in life.

The life of godliness might look like one which tarries but don’t lose hope you will definitely arrive at God’s intended destination for you.

A life of godliness will lead you to make an impact which heaven will take note of.

Daniel and his friends took their decision on how to live before they found themselves in certain situations. Have you determined in your heart to live absolutely by what the Word of God says no matter the situation you find yourself in? Make up your mind to not compromise before any situation which tempts you beyond measure arises.

Father, help me to live a godly life with your purpose in mind.
