“The spirit (conscience) of man is the lamp of the LORD, Searching and examining all the innermost parts of his being.” [Proverbs 20:27 AMP]

When a man becomes born again, his spirit (inward man) becomes totally new in Christ Jesus. His renewed spirit is now in a perfect state to commune and fellowship with God, who leads us by our spirit. Since the spirit of man is God’s lamp, we can expect Him to lead us by our spirit to do good for His glory.

This explains why we need to prioritize our fellowship with the Holy Spirit. The more we develop our inner man, the more sensitive we become to the promptings of God so that we can follow where He leads. Fellowship with the Holy Spirit cannot be overemphasized in the life of every leader, because leadership is one of the potent tools God uses to do good.

We know that God is love, and we can also attest to God’s goodness. Psalm 145:9 says: “The LORD is good to all, And His tender mercies are over all His works [the entirety of things created].” Furthermore, our renewed inner man is in the very nature of God (see Ephesians 4:23 [AMP]). Therefore, a man full of God’s Spirit is full of love. When a person is full of love, he consistently does good. A look at Jesus’ life confirms this. He was full of the Spirit and went around doing good. “…how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with great power, and He went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil because God was with Him.” [Acts 10:38 AMP]

When God anoints a man with His Spirit, it is a mandate to go out and do good for His glory.

As Kingdom-minded people, God has called us to be leaders. We must remember that God has given us of His good Spirit so that through us, the world will taste His goodness. By doing good, we bring light where there is darkness, joy where pain abounds, freedom to the oppressed and healing to the broken-hearted. This brings God great glory. The more we fellowship with the Holy Spirit, the less likely we are to miss an opportunity to do good. Never forget that you’ve been anointed to do good as a leader.

Dear Lord, I pray that as I fellowship with Your Spirit, You will empower me to be a leader who brings glory to You by doing good consistently, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
